Nope, it’s a Pork Pie !
Well, for some strange reason we can’t get a kebab at 2 in the morning in the desert, apparently there’s no call for them - well, I can tell you that they would have sold a couple last night !
I was going to major on the pork pie theme tonight but since I started this after breakfast this morning we have moved on to bigger, better and more spectacular things……..
Sausages ! On a BBQ in the desert. As I mentioned yesterday, my very good friend Ian (who is currently not just a very good friend, but a full blown hero) purchased a number of items including sausages, chicken, burgers, salad, strawberries, a disposable BBQ, plates etc. etc. etc……the list goes on and on. When you combine these items with some towels borrowed from the pool staff, knives forks, spoons, salt, pepper, ketchup, mayonnaise and bread from the restaurant staff, beer, wine and water from our personal stashes – you have the makings of a damn fine BBQ out in the desert !
We walked about 200m out of the back of the hotel and around the corner of the dunes so that we couldn’t see anything or anyone – it was bloody marvellous !
Now I’m all porked out (well, apart from the sausage and mustard sandwiches for lunch tomorrow and the other pork pie I have spirited away in the fridge !
I’m not going to bother with an inventory today but briefly I drank a lot last night and a bit tonight, I gave Ian AED 200 to cover my two bottles of red and my share of the BBQ. I have now gone through 6 days without a cigar and I spent an hour and a half in the gym today without putting my shoulder under to much pressure because it’s complaining !
I’m off to bed shortly to feel contented !
