Another really boring day in the office

Today was a nothing day – one of those days that you spend trying manly to find something constructive to do but still end up working out how much a minute you’re earning or how many chair legs there are in the building next door………

I’ve been a bit stuck in a vacuum for the last two days having submitted my first report and done my workshop but as the client wanted to discuss various possibilities with the rest of his team before agreeing some important details I’ve been hanging around waiting for him to make a decision without being able to start the next phase.

I have a meeting tomorrow afternoon with him which should (I say should……) unblock the process and then I can start work on the next bit.  Having said all that I’m in Abu Dhabi on Thursday to try and get my boss out of the cack.  My counterpart in Abu Dhabi, who was fired from my job in Western Region, instead of putting him on a plan home they sent him to Abu Dhabi where he appears to have made a pigs ear of that job as well and is working his notice !  So I have to go and see what I can do without leaving the Western Region (because the client has made it perfectly clear that he will not accept duel working in more than one region.

Then I have to find the off-licence in Abu Dhabi because you don’t need an alcohol licence to buy alcohol there but you do in Dubai, which will be my next port of call for the weekend – but I’m getting ahead of myself already.

Apart from being the most boring day since I got here, and a massive anticlimax following payday yesterday, there is very little of note.  I went for a long swim this evening instead of going to the gym, my son is happy with the school he has been allocated in this years “win a school place lottery” – and I’m very very proud of him for accepting what he has been given with good grace, and I’m sad with him that some of his friends are going to other schools (which was inevitable) – and that, as they say, is my last word on the subject……to you lot anyway !

Today’s inventory isn’t very interesting either as it happens so I won’t trouble you with it (the chicken pie was nice at tea time though !).

I promise that I will find something to take pictures of tomorrow as well cause you’ve been starved for days of anything other than camels and sand !
