Just to explain, this is the view from my bedroom window at 7 this morning when I opened the curtains.......I thought you might appreciate it, what with the weather being so rubbish where you are........
My apologies if you got home yesterday and logged on in desperation to see what dreadful things had been happening to me over the previous 24 hours. I’m slightly behind the curve because, you had better sit down for this if you’re not already sitting down, I had to work until last night………..
I know some of will find that hard to believe but it’s true. Even harder to believe is the fact that it wasn’t even my own work. It was a nice old boy who was having trouble with corrupted tables in a report he was writing and as we’re all in this together I offered to try and sort it out for him – which took till midnight, but what I don’t know about licensing slaughter houses and organising weddings now isn’t worth knowing about !
I’m keeping this simple because I have a busy day today which will see me in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai for work, rest and play (so tomorrow’s blog may be a little late as well……..). It’s our Friday night here and I’m going to meet some old colleagues from Iraq in my favourite beach bar in Dubai tonight, which isn’t that far from my 5* hotel (did I mention that I got a 5* hotel for £61 a night on lastminute.com…….) and as luck would have it my favourite bar (Barasti – you can look it up if you like. Apparently it holds the world record, or something, for the highest takings over a weekend, or something. I’m led to believe that they took over £500,000 in 2 days, not because it’s any more expensive than the rest of Dubai darling, but because it’s enormous) – no, where was I, oh yes, Barasti is virtually next door to the hotel that the world famous author, James Barclay , is staying with his family for a few days, and seeing as he was my Best Man on the happiest day of my life it would seem rude not to join him for a spot of tea and cake !
Right, have to go and do something useful. Today’s notable aspect with respect to inventory has to be the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs that I had for breakfast – jolly nice they were too ! I did have a bottle of beer last night as well because the chap who’s software problem I was fixing insisted he buy me one and who am I to refuse !
Hi ian, shining example trying to post again!(What a profound e-mail ...they've succesfully brought me back to earth again). Am slowly catching up with all your stuff, keep up the good work

How lovely of you to comment, it puts you ahead of numerous others of much greater IT pedigree who have complained that they can't/ won't/ failed to/ haven't got time to/ don't want to etc. etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteWe are going through a fairly boring phase here at the moment as I see to have done most of the obvious things and we are moving onto subtle - which may be lost on some people.
Viewing figures have plummeted since they took away the advertising game so I will be looking for a little interaction when it comes to what people want to see or hear about (I'm very democratic you see !)
I'm now going back to get rid of the first photo (which looks like some bastardised version of the second one, and I certainly didn't put it on, and to correct at least one typo - the moral of the story being "don't write blogs before breakfast" !
