To keep you going. I’m in Abu Dhabi at the moment (driving myself ever forwards in my battle against admin istration – more of that when I’ve won in a couple of days), and doing a little work just to keep the paymasters happy (I’m actually doing favours so hopefully I’m making friends into the bargain !)
So having taken a few pictures of my little city in the desert last week I thought I’d share them with you before I forget. You’d have guessed that the city where I live isn’t the grandest place on earth but they do try…….they decorate their statues very nicely…
They have lovely playgrounds and parks…..
They have big shopping malls…..
and little rows of shops…..
and schools…..(7 in all…)
and A petrol station…….(just the one….)
and A block of flats…..(although I suppose you could say that that was two blocks if you wanted to be picky…..)
and nice suburban areas…..
and a hospital…….
and a one in a million street…..
The story is that because this “street” leads to the camel pens, and every year they hold the biggest camel festival in the whole wide world ever (allegedly), and during that camel festival they hold a camel beauty contest (I kid you not), and the first prize for the best looking camel is AED 1,000,000, they named the dirt track that goes to the camel pens The Million Street – you couldn’t make that up surely ?
And on that bombshell………
