♫ The Dunes Are Alive With The Sound Of Music ♫

Which isn’t doing my hangover any good whatsoever !

When I got back from Abu Dhabi last night at about 6.15 I thought I had just come home.  Everywhere I looked there were bloody kids running about and shouting, and in the background was this sound of synchronised cat strangling, which I tracked down to this…….

The hotel is full of school children this weekend – is nothing sacred ?

When we went to dinner last night, we walked into the restaurant and simply turned around and walked back out again.  It was bedlam !  No tables, queues for everything and the noise levels rising all the time.  And it’s this that created my hangover……..

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it !

We decided that as we couldn’t eat for a while, we might as well go and have a drink on the terrace…….which sort of turned into a few…..then we went for dinner at about 9 and came back and had “a few more”……..

I did make it out of bed this morning, just, and went to the gym where I successfully completed a full set of circuit training before going to breakfast and being subjected to the brass half of the orchestra (who clearly felt the need to practice behind closed doors – not that it made much difference to the volume !).  We managed to pick out the Star Wars theme tune from the general noise but even that could have been something else !  Thankfully they have stopped now……..well, I say thankfully but that has created other problems because they have all taken to the pool and are being very noisy and taking up all the sun beds……..how very dare they !

If I wanted kids playing violins and trumpets, and shouting at each other, and invading my space and splashing me, then I’d have stayed at home !

It has been decided that in an effort to find something to do which doesn’t involve avoiding children, we will drive to Abu Dhabi to go shopping for the afternoon (I “need” a number of things……..no I do, honest…….Pork Pie hunting is on the agenda, as are new trainers, some kind of cheap portable ipod speakers system, chicken shwarma’s, as well as any number of unlikely toys and treats – I got paid yesterday in case you were wondering !).

There is also the additional lure of the UAE playing Kazakhstan at rugby tonight (free entry !) and when Kazakhstan played Hong Kong last week (it’s the Asian 5 Nations, with Sri Lanka and Japan) they had two players sent off for fighting so it should be a bit of entertainment if nothing else !

I haven’t succumbed to wedding fever today although I would publicly like to wish the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge my heartiest best wishes on the occasion of their marriage (the miserable socialist bastards who, at dinner the night before last, thought it was somehow clever to wish that it rained on them today, have been publicly flayed across a gun carriage, dragged through the streets and pointed at, and are now next to the Guardian readers buried up to their necks out in the desert, covered in jam, waiting for the camel spiders – whether you believe that or not, believe that they won’t be as mean spirited in front of me again !).

I’m sure that, if I really wanted to, I could avoid it altogether, but somehow I think I’ll just let it all wash over me gently !

Wish me luck with the shopping _ I’m not very good at spending money sensibly………
