It doesn’t seem fair that I have to go to work whilst everyone else is enjoying the good weather back at home………..Hey ho !
Today I met my client and took tea with him in his office whilst discussing the problems associated with Health & Safety whilst working in the desert……we may have some distance to go on that one yet……..
Today I also got my work laptop, e-mail address, passwords and all of the other paraphernalia which helps the modern office function. This meant I was given the WAF key code for the wireless internet and all of a sudden I’m free again. My iphone is happily bundling out e-mails and Facebook and Skype and stuff (shame you can’t get texts over the internet – at 50p a pop here it’s not clever !).
So life is back to normal as far as the internet is concerned, which is a good thing cause the internet in the hotel is rubbish even when it is working. Still blogging is OK, because of the time difference I can up-load in the morning when I get to work and most of you are still in bed !
I’m going to keep it shortish tonight as I have had a long day in front of a computer and my eyes hurt (and so do my shoulders after another hour in the gym this evening……).
I was undecided which picture to put in as photo of the day but in the end decided that the daytime shot of yesterdays photo of the day wasn’t worthy when considered in contrast ! So here is the runner up for photo of the day:
This is the same view as last nights photo of the day but with the lights on…….obviously ! It’s not all as amazing as this (there are bloody pylons everywhere) but it’s not bad really…..
Today’s inventory:
Cigars – 3 (I think…..)
Alcohol – 0 units
Weather – warm and sunny with a cool breeze
Money – AED 0 (someone else bought my falafel today…….). Tomorrow won’t be a lot worse as I’m spending the day in the clients office and that’s miles from the falafel shop so I’m going to “liberate” some lunch during breakfast……..
Gym – 1 and a bit hours. I was banging along on the treadmill and it reminded me of a time a few years ago when I ran a marathon on a treadmill. I had to do it in two stints but none the less I did it. I did think I could have a go at another one here, all in one go and try to break 4 hours (which I never managed to do in any of my other attempts). We can see how the training is going after a few weeks and then try and set a date for one quiet weekend and have a go – be assured, you will know all about it !
Photo of the day:
Racing camels on their way for morning exercise at the track – what more could you ask for !
I’m going for a lay down now so I will bid you farewell – don’t forget to “click & close” !
Hi Ian .... Sounds like you're having a fun time!! Don't forget to take a camel ride ... lol! Enjoying your blog .... hope the work is OK? Gilly xx
