Settling In

Today I’m going to start with the inventory and try and think of something interesting to say after that because I’ve got no burning issues to discuss !

Cigars: 3 (I told you I was cutting down – that’s a 25% reduction in input !)

Alcohol: 0 units but I have just been told I have to go to Abu Dhabi for the weekend cause we can’t stay in the hotel here because of some camel racing next door so I suspect it’s not going to last more than another few days.

Gym: another hour.  The aches and pains are starting to subside now and I must have lost at least a stone in weight……….

Weather: Lovely.  Warm (about 25 deg) light breeze – what more can you ask for !  I was talking to a friend of mine in Kuwait earlier and she say’s it’s pissing down and blowing a gale (her words not mine……….)

Food:  Nothing worthy of note other than the fact that I did that thing which we all do if we’re staying in a hotel for a while…….I made myself a sandwich for lunch at breakfast time and smuggled it out cause I knew I was going to be out at a site meeting all day and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get anything where I was going – and I was right, not a sausage in sight (if you’ll pardon the pun).  Whilst we’re on the subject of sausages I can tell you that Turkey sausages are crap and the chicken ones looked so bad I didn’t even try them…….veal bacon on the other hand…..not to bad, not as good as the real stuff but not bad none the less !  This mornings disaster was no baked beans at breakfast – I mean………..

Photo of the day:

I know, it’s another picture of that bloody pool, and that bloody desert, and I promise I will take something different tomorrow but as I was walking to breakfast and the mist was rising off the pool and the sun was rising over the sand dunes it all looked to good to miss !

This is what the sun rise looked like

Sadly for everyone I haven’t thought of anything to talk about whilst I have been writing this but I do promise that I’ll take some pictures of Madinat Zayed tomorrow.  That’s the town where I’m working and it’s really rather pretty !

Thursday night sees me decant to Abu Dhabi for the weekend as we are being bumped out of here for a week so at least you will get to see 2 different hotel and towns/cities for the next couple of weeks.  Then I’m going to Dubai for the weekend so we can do pictures of tall things and shopping centres !

See you all tomorrow – “keep clicking !”  (we’re up to £8 in just a couple of days, which isn’t bad considering it’s 5p a click or something !)
