Bugger all !
It’s our Sunday here (although their holy day was yesterday so I suppose it’s technically our Saturday…….I’d make up your own minds if I were you).
We’ll gloss over the bits where I spent the best part of the day laying on a sun bed after a late breakfast reading the paper whilst intermittently taking a dip in the pool to cool down – because I’m sure that you’re not interested in my quest for the perfect body (on-going), or my quest to see the resident Ukrainian singer in a skimpy bikini (completed), either way I don’t have pictures of either of these things (yet, but be warned !) so you will just have to use your imagination !
The peace was shattered at some point by this (I was thinking of having a spot the difference competition with the hotel’s favourite publicity photo but I thought it might be to difficult for you so I didn’t bother…….
So the scene moves straight to 1600hrs sharpe where myself and another Ian (we like to hunt in packs generally) can be found loitering in the reception foyer waiting for the delivery, by hotel staff, of two of their loan bicycles. They turned out to be very nice, very new, and very robust mountain bikes with loads of gears and stuff, and what turned out to be, a very comfortable saddle ! We set off the 3-4 miles to the camel race track just in time (as luck would have it) for evening exercise. A quick jaunt to the Royal Pavilion to see how the other half live, once around the small track and back. Just over an hour and a half’s cycling with some stop-start to add to that time – no need for the gym tonight I think !

This one is one of my favourites because it reminds me of someone……I just can’t put my finger on who at the moment……..
Today’s inventory:
Cigars: 1……to many
Alcohol: 0 units
Money: AED 0
Gym: an hour and half on a bike and quite a lot of lengths in the pool (a surprisingly large pool at that)
Weather: scorchio
Food: To early to tell you anything interesting cause I haven’t been to dinner yet and they’re setting up the BBQ’s so it might be a good night…….
