A shoppers (and alpine skiers) paradise…….

Personally I can’t see the need for so many shops but maybe I’m just being a bloke…… Today I went to the Mall of the Emirates (last time I went to the Dubai Mall – which I think still ranks as the best shopping centre I have ever been and spent nothing in – although this one pushed a close second……..)

You may notice, by the way, that I posted yesterdays blog late, for which I issue profound apologies, I had internet issues so if you missed that one because you came straight here then you’ll have to go back and catch up………go on, off you go, we’ll wait for you, but don’t hang around cause we’re not waiting all day !

Good, right, where was I ?  Oh yes, well you had better look at the basic stuff first before we get onto the really daft…..

This picture doesn’t really do it justice because I was trying to show how far into the distance the whole thing goes……on three floors !

It felt a bit like a disused railway station at one point, or rather a converted railway station…….. a very big converted railway station actually……..

But the point that all this is leading to is clearly the obvious one……why haven’t we got a ski slope, with lifts and summit cafes, and nursery slopes, and kids playgrounds…..obviously, in the Grosvenor Centre ?  I bet Milton Keynes couldn’t beat that !

So today’s photo of the day is possibly the most bizarre thing I have seen for a long long time…….

In the middle of a shopping centre - and I thought the aquarium was mad !  I was sat in one of numerous cafes/ restaurants/ bars which overlooked this sceptical in some way (and you should appreciate I had to search for this particular shot…..the fact that this bar happened to serve alcohol and let you smoke should be viewed as largely irrelevant (I didn’t have a drink or a cigar – but I know where it is for future reference……….)

As far as the inventory goes there isn’t much else to say.  I went supermarket shopping today as a bit of an experiment into how expensive it would be to live normally here if you wanted to.  I bought all the ingredients for a family chilli and cooked it back at my apartment – very tasty even if I do say so myself.  I’ve certainly got enough for at least another two meals, if not three and I’ll freeze the rest and take it back to Abu Dhabi on Saturday somehow (cause I’m staying in yet another place on Saturday and Sunday night for reasons I might try and explain at some point but I really can’t be bothered now…..).  Anyway, it cost AED 47 for all of the stuff (whish is about £8 I think so that won’t be bad if that’s all I spend on food for 3 days !

The party fund is up to £41.00 so keep on trucking (or clicking…..).  Just remind everyone who’s reading this to do the same thing and I promise that the bunny will live…….. J

  2. I think you were right the first time.

By the way, the double entendre thing was too easy. So please supply the joke to go with this punchline:
. . .and the barman says, 'is this some kind of joke?'

  3. You've got to do better than that - apart from the fact that I know that you only know 2 jokes !

"A Rabbi, a horse and an Irishman walk into a bar......"
